Linux Mint 18 released

I have an Ubuntu 16.04 VM that was installed purely for trying out the new Unity. Since there is still some irritating breakage in the DE I decided to delete the VM. Before doing so went and installed Cinnamon to see what the current version is like. Very nice. It's the little things like split-view in the file browser that make a difference. Unfortunately the requirements for setting a global proxy still rule it out for me.

Also tried the new Pantheon to see how the Elementary OS guys are getting along.

My HTPC is happily chugging along on Windows10 now after the debacle I had upgrading Mint 11 to Mint 14 (long story, SAMBA stopped working properly and it just became more of a hassle that it was worth in the end)

mmmm
//considers a reinstall before the end of the month to grab a free lic

Ja, don't misunderstand me, I was very happy with Mint11 - it did what it needed to do, no fuss no las - then 14 hassled me (and yes, I could have fixed it eventually, but life is too short nowadays).

Anyhow, switching to Win10 then provided motivation to switch to Sonarr from Sickbeard and I haven't looked back.

So the HTPC now runs:

Sonarr
SAB
Plex

and happily fulfills it's function as the MediaPC

CouchPotato?

Installed but I don't find it very effective - scrapes a lot of junk

I use it just to rename, nothing else, I prefer to hand pick.

I have SAB set with a folder to download to and CouchPotato to just scan and rename the files it finds in that folder, works great.

Think I'm gonna download the ISO and copy the deb's into my cache.... should hasten the upgrade somewhat when it arrives.
Always good to have something to reinstall with should I need to anyway.

noob - why do something manually that s/w can do for you

Ember is quite lekker - it d/l posters and summaries and stuff that the Roku (and I presume other media players) use - it's makes it kind of perfesshinel
Kodi does all I need for that. It literally takes me 5 seconds to rename something. Put it in the right folder, update library, profit.

Why do you have to rename? If the auto-download method recognised it, so should Plex when fetching metainfo. Not had this problem, TBH.
