The Ubuntu forums tell me not to install Beryl/Compiz unless I know what I'm doing so I'm going to wait a bit.
I installed Ubuntu yesterday. I made the error when creating the iso disc so had to use the forums to solve that. Once installed it is great.
Great news, FF50. Hopefully you'll also enjoy the experience. I agree with playing a little more with Ubuntu first. In my case, I first got the basic stuff going, like 3D drivers (NVidia for me), MP3's and DVD playback, which familiarises one quite well. Ensured that I could access my NTFS partitions and surprisingly also the shares on our other WinXP PC.
This took up a week of fiddling for an hour after work. Then I noticed that "Desktop Effects" was already available under "Preferences" and that lead me to reading lots about making Compiz Fusion work with Feisty. The actual install-process was near-painless and smooth.
