i have got a serious bone to pick with Vodacom's so called "technicians" who do the repair assessments. My BB9800,lives in a pouch,i use headsets on it ( so no sweat from my head) ,never been near any form of water, suddenly has "liquid damage" even though when handing it in,i showed the person that the litmus on the back is still white!(as the counter guy had already made up his mind that it was water damage, with out me even booking it in).If one just browses some forums, and hellopeter there has been a spate of "liquid damage" blackberry phones in the last few weeks, something fishy going on!

their blackberry tech needs to have his / her eyes checked

Had the same happed with someone next to me in line in vodashop who came to pick up his BB. The phoned him to say his phone is ready. Flipped his lid when he found out it couldn't be repaired cause of water damage or "condensation". I think when its either too costly to fix or they dont know whats wrong, they lable it water damage so they dont have to repair/replace.

this is what im saying, check on hellopeter, there is PLENTY ,something dodgy is going on!

how do i know, that their tech didnt damage something while "inspecting" the phone, and to cover his own ass, go "oh look, liquid damage"

Has it been booked in now though?

Go to Cellular Repair Shop in Lyndhurst, never looked back, great job done.

thing is the phone works fine , except for this "sim card rejected" thing and slow internet, and occasionally it says "no service" ( nothing any of my previous blackberrys done) so as per recommendation of the twitter guys, i ma sent it in.

What about me ? What did I do ? :D On a serious note I hope you get your problem sorted out. The VC reps here are really helpfull

i got an email now from them, showing this water damage, and while there is damage on the board they showing, the serial number (IMEI) dont match the one on our BES server, or on the JOB card, ( 1 digit different) but still, it also shows the device as a 89NN not a 98NN....

oddly the bb pin matches, but nothing else...

Hmm watching this one as I was about to go and renew my vodacom contract and get BB ....

The 1st 14 digits of the IMEI needs to match , the last is a check digit which may vary.
