List of congested exchanges?

Rondebosch again. After enjoying awesome internet for the last 8-9 months, I have been getting a constant 500-800ms LOCAL ping for the last two days. Also, my line is atrociously slow.

Having the same issue here in Rosebank (Cape Town). I'm on Mweb (Have also tried a Webafrica account) and getting similar pings / slow speeds.

Tried Cybersmart/Axxess/Webafrica and all the same. Logged a fault with Telkom.

Has anyone successfully not paid for their ADSL service while their exchange has been congested?

Got my line installed last week Friday, only to discover that the service is completely unusable...luckily Telkom don't have my banking details yet so I'm going to refuse to pay for the install or service until its working as it should.
Yes, I managed to get a refund for the ADSL rental.

Log a fault with Telkom, get a reference number, don't let them close the call until your issues is fixed.

I eventually cancelled my line, and asked for a refund from the date when I logged the fault.

I guess we can add Strand (Helderberg, Western Cape) to the list as well. We've been having major latency issues relating to congestion at our local Telkom exchange. (Detailed explanation in this thread: LINK)

Anybody on durban north exchange get massive ping after 7pm every night? Not sure if it's congestion but would be nice to know i'm not alone.

An MSAN has just been installed in the Durban north exchange ,,,you sure you are on the DN exchange ??
3 out side MSANs have also been installed in that area .

If i use this http://broadbandstats.co.za/search/phone/

You are connected to the DURBAN NORTH (NDNN) exchange.

It's been terrible for the last week but has been on and off for a month or two. After 7pm ping jumps around between 200ms and 800ms to local sites. Right now im pinging mybroadband and the pings are around 250ms.

lilggg I'm back in Durban and connected to the same exchange my latency is also disgusting.

*sigh* All these upgrades and MSANs and it just makes things worse. Thanks for the feedback at least i know it's not me being a noob.

I can't believe it that I have to deal with congested exchanges where ever I go on either side of the country. :(
How can we sort this out? Does anyone know someone that understands what latency means at 10219?

They are busy working on the DNN exchange to move all DSLAM services over to MSANs.

Thanks for that info mickey, how long have they been doing that? Cos it's been pretty bad for a few months, not every day but on and off a lot.

Slightly better now.

MickeyD do you know anything about the STELLENBOSCH (WSTB) Exchange? In the evenings there are also congestion problems.

It's mainly the ping spikes that are the problem, makes gaming frustrating, hope the new MSAN's will fix that. And my ping on telkom is more than double any other ISP i've tried.

Bumping for mickey, any idea when they are going to finish moving everything over? Internet is almost unusable at the moment :(
