Lithium Batteries [ Group Buy ]

Basically I want to buy the batteries from you. So work on the 3.2v cells right now. How many would I need?

I don't mind buying a 3-phase inverter , so perhaps you can even source me one? I'll contact prostar/sako and see what they offer.

How do I calculate how many panels are needed? 35kw / 300w = 117 ?

With this sort of requirements I'd suggest 400aH or even larger cells. Otherwise you going to end up with a small boat of batteries. 1000aH batteries would probably be better.

Yes I agree. If lsheed manages to build large modules ( like 48v and bigger ) it will be even better.
 
@The_Traveller are you sure you need 100Kwh per day?

Or is this for some sort of business you're running? I haven't heard of a residential house using such a huge amount of electricity yet.

Yip. My monthly electricity bill shows between 2500kWh-3500kWh

I've got a very big house , what can I do ....
 
Assuming you're really not trolling, the grid scale Tesla PowerPack (not PowerWall) is going to be better priced than I can get batteries for, especially at 25,000$ / 100KWhr

You want to explain what exactly uses 100KW day?

I own a 1000sq metre house and my wife and kids don't really care about how much electricity they use.

The only reason I care is because my money is going to the b@stards who are pocketing the cash and making life easy for the majority who are ...

Not really sure what uses 100kWh, think the meter lies ?

Got myself an Efergy moniter last year. Its at the meter recording all electricity consumption. Not sure how you are using that much electricity.

Below is a screenshot from the efergy software. This is from a house with 3 adults and a 5 year old.

Erf size 1 000m2
House size about 350m2 (4 bed, 3 bath, 1 x 200l geyser)
Geyser was on a heat pump but this packed up about a year ago and I have not yet had it fixed.
Cooking with gas oven and stove.
No heaters as we have a fireplace.
Pool pump on for about 6hrs every day.
All floodlights outside has been replaced with LED floodlights. I have 10 and they consume half the electricity of one normal floodlight.
Inside lights are normal CFL and I have no downlights. I will be adding LED lighting to replae the CFLs.

Get yourself an Efergy to check your usage. I'm averaging between 650KwH to 750KwH per month.

Jeez, I use 100 kWh every 10 days. Fsck kids, rather have my testicles removed than spawn a 3,500 kWh monster...
 
With some serious security wiring around the property, say 3 geyser's, and things like underfloor heating or lots of downlights I reckon you'd easily get to 100Kwh/day - We are in a new (much smaller - 350sqm) house - built energy efficient from day one (insulation, LED lights, AA+ appliances, Heatpump etc) and in Winter very easy to hit 25kw/day. A single "normal" geyser would have pushed that to 35-45 per day.

It probably would not only save some cash, but result in a much smaller/less complex installation by first tackling some of the heavy energy usage first - a quick win is just to change good old downlights to LED versions - often a simple "screw out screw in" procedure - I can imagine in a house your size one could easily have 150+ downlights - @ 50W each - 7.5Kw/h just for lights - lets say 4 hours per day there's a 3rd of the 100Kw already. Some decent LED (6 or 6.5w) downlights will reduce it to 1Kw/h - or 4KW per day.

Other than lights, geysers are probably the worst (in smaller houses with much less lights the geyser is top of the list) - they are easily 3Kw each - so a couple of them will burn electricity very quickly. Your usage pattern should guide you around investigating some solar heating, or probably rather some heatpumps - which should save you around 60% of the usage on geysers alone - but this is more complex, requires plumbing etc etc - not always easy to retro-fit afterwards.

If you worked out the number of panels and batteries to generate and store for a 40Kw/day vs a 100Kw/day and the labour on installation the difference is huge.

I already have my lights in LED. Already converted my 3 x 300L Geysers to Solar. Fridges and Freezers are energy efficient. Pool pump is the latest ones so I assume ( 0.7kw ) is energy efficient. I didn't yet tackle my domestics room that has fridge/freezer and stove. But I calculated their usage and a few hours a week cant cause major effect.

The wife and kids don't want to use the Gas hob I have installed 10 yearsago. Always using the stove's and ovens.

So bottom line is even after being careful I get 100kWh / day.

I'll go buy some energy meters and see how it goes.

Any tumble driers or electric heaters? Otherwise I don't know how you can use that much. I work from home, with PC's and everything running pretty much 24/7 and I use about 15kWh per day

The latest tech washing machine is in use ( twice max) every day. Tumble dryer hardly. Heaters ? Not in the house for sure . In the domestics room? That's possible but who uses heaters when it's not cold?

I'm getting my electrician to give the domestics room it's own dedicated db so I can monitor their usage and see perhaps half my bill is because of them, who knows.

Very unlikely. I tripped my breaker at the meters outside for several days to see who else gets cut but no one else complained so I'm definitely not providing free electricity to anyone else.
