Hi guys, how can I load video content to my PS3? Can one do it via a network connection?

Some advise would be appreciated.

hmmm, OK - have found that just copying the movie to a USB drive and connecting it also works - but will have to investigate the media server thing - sounds cool.

hehe

The PS3 uses my XP as a media server, and via my wireless lan it can play content directly from it.

It does however not support all video formats. With the last firmware update they added DIVX to supported formats.

On another point - is the PS3 region coded for BD movies - I want to import 'I am Legend' from Amazon but don't know if it will play.
If it is region coded, can one make it multiregion like your normal DVD players?

PS3 games are region free, unfortuantely the same cannot be said for BD movies. I would also think that multizoning a PS3 would not be possible without chipping it I'm afraid, but I'm guessing. It was like that with the PS2.

Thanks so far for the help. Medialink is working like a dream - at USD 20, its worth it. BTW, posting this via the PS3.

My Nokia BT keyboard works fine on the PS3.

On another point - I am not 100% sure if the PS3 can play H.264 encoded movies - have not tried it yet - anyone that can confirm if it does - I have the latest firmware.

Blu-ray, VC1 and AVC are H.264. PS3 can play them all. However PS3 may not play quicktime crippled H.264 versions.

Apple's proprietary implementation of H.264 is a bit flawed imo.

I can play back Quicktime hi-def trailers via tversity. Works like a charm - and it's not transcoding.

Thanks - will give it a go.

Try www.orb.com. Works on wireless connection through my router. Use red kawa to convert files to mp4 if you need to. Pretty much the easiest and free.
