Hi folks, have you seen an impact on your internet connection during loadshedding?

My router+ONT is on battery backup, but I always experience a dip in connectivity about 2-3 minutes after the area power has been cut. Always just long enough to drop any active Teams call and Windows to complain of no connectivity on my wifi connection.

I'm using VUMA + Afrihost

Hi.
In which area are you based ?

Victory Park, close to Delta Park
I near there but on frogfoot no impact.
but am sure you know about the issues at the Pankhurst sub, they have been isolating smaller and smaller sections trying to find there tripping fault, so you may find the POP was in one of the longer term outage locations and exhausted there power reservers

So this never happens exactly when we loose our power. Usually its 2-3 minutes later. Today it was 6 minutes after we lost our power (10:04:03). First packet lost 10:11:10 and lasted for 1.5 minutes

@Afrigirl - in what area is imitrol.net.afrihost.co.za[169.1.1.166] located? Or could this be between you & Vumatel?

Will check my ONT's status lights during the next blip, although the ONT takes much longer to reconnect if that goes off. So I doubt the OLT lost power (and does not make much sense from a timing perspective)

Load shedding has affected my internet at all. Only had issues on RSAWEB who doesn't seems to have sufficient backup at the HQ. Don't know if they've improved since.

Octotel (with Afrihost) and currently Cybersmart run well at all times.

It's the gateway located just after the NNI. If you can reach it then there is an issue with Layer 2 (FNO).

Thanks! I'll assume this should be can't reach it & you are talking about Vumatel here...

Can you log a ticket on Vumatel to investigate or should I log one on Afrihost to start this?

Hi

Yes you can send Afrigirl and me a message so we can log the ticket if there aren't any network incidents logged already.
