Anyone know who the better loan providers are? I've tried the high street banks .. all incompetent. Someone mentioned DirectAxis http://www.directaxis.co.za is ok .. does anyone have any experiences of them? I see they've got some decent info on their website which makes a nice change.

I haven't used DirectAxis before, but they got my details from somewhere so they keep sending me sms'es and mail. They grant loans very easily and payment is next day....but they do charge high interest (depending on your profile) and they do charge fees to initiate, plus admin fees. It would be interesting to compare with one of the big banks. If you have ABSA, you can get an online quote on your internet banking, and you can apply and see immediately if you qualify. I did that just for interest sake, and on a R12 500 loan ABSA offered me 26,7% interest with R1 140 initiation fee and R57 monthly fee over 2 years. Not cheap either so best to check a few places. Luckily I am still a student so my loan is fixed at 8,5% at the moment, I will just take a loan on that if I need emergency funds.
