Local Anti-spam organization?

Are there any kind of local anti-spam organizations that are actively investigating local spammers?

What I mean is: I tend to receive a lot of spam from obviously local spammers - ie "newsletters", "flyers" with prices in rands, all kinds of stuff containing local contact details, etc.

Are there any local organizations that are perhaps taking any kind of legal action against these people?

I'm aware of the ISPA - but I don't know if they are actually doing anything about the problem, other than merely publishing a 'hall of shame'.

The ISPA Antispam Working Group are actually quite a hands-on group.

They don't exactly get legal, but they do try and educate the spammers and show them the errors of their ways.
Some ISPA Members even disconnect spammers if they receive reports from other ISPA members.

The challenge in ZA is the spam is not currently really unlawful, it is just socially unacceptable. There is a single clause in the ECT Act that deals with spam which is pretty ineffective and has many loopholes. The spammers know this and many of them don't send spam that is breaking this law.

What ISPA and others are doing at the moment is participating in law making and doing lobbying. Hopefully the next time laws about spam are passed there won't be any loopholes that get pushed into the final version.
