Are there any good object storage providers hosted in South Africa?

I'm looking for a managed object storage service, similar to Amazon S3 or Rackspace Cloud Files.

I'm not looking something like Dropbox, Sharepoint or a cloud backup service. Also not looking for block storage - I'm specifically looking for a service that works through an API like Amazon S3.

I've looked around, but so far the only option seems to be to build such as system myself.

I would have used Amazon S3, but unfortunately the data has to be hosted locally (blame POPI).

As far as I can see, MTN offers Backup as a Service, but no plain object storage. Most other providers I've seen in SA are similar unfortunately.

Have a look at Citrix Sharefile with local storage zones which can be on your San or data centre

I'm not looking for a file sharing solution - I'm looking for raw data storage, similar to Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage (not Google Drive), Rackspace Cloud Files, Nimbus.IO, anything along those lines.

Since it doesn't look like any of those are available in SA, does anyone have experience with hosting something like Riak CS or similar storage solutions at Hetzner?

www.allworldit.com , storage available in multiple USA states, UK and Cape Town

You can contact Oceanhost in regard with their OnApp service, they might have a probable API integration. I cannot recommend this in a personal capacity since I do not know their agreement with OnApp and their OnApp implementations and should they have API's.

Only about 7 years late, but take a look at what I found here
States they're based in SA. I stumbled across this post while hunting for s3 options locally
