The server has been down for a while, but it should be up again in the future. and yes it works with the expansion and latest patch.

@poffle: thats the fun part that u are missing out on. the group dynamic brings a breath of fresh air into diablo that u simply dont get in single player. Not to mention the quests and items that are online only (unless of course u play with mods that enable online only events)
