Local guide to iPhone gaming

as recently noted on the ZATech podcast, south africans can create accounts through the Kenyan ap store where you can use your credit card - no need for vauchers. The Kennyan ap store has much more variety due to the fact that they don't have SA's crazy licensing restrictions.

It is however still illegal and it violates the terms of agreement.

So I must commit fraud in order to get some apps? No thanks. Apple, either let me buy them legally, or voetsek.

If you don't know the law, rather keep quiet. As a prosecutor myself, I can assure you it is not fraud. It is a perfect legit way to access the wealth of the US store. I only use the SA store for South African apps like news24 etc.

its not fraud dude. The payment is legal. Only the address is fake. You don't use a credit card so it can't be fraud.

It's probably a violation of their terms of service, but I don't see Apple complaining too much. The only people who are likely to complain are the publishers who instituted these stupid zoning and regional restrictions in the first place... And seriously, f'em. At least I'm actually trying to pay for the stuff I want.

More importantly, why does South Africa not support games?

The SA Film and Publications Board requires every title to be registered individually on every platform for a fee. At R10 a game, you need to sell at least 100 just to cover the fee and that's not taking into account any margin or expenses at all.

Eeeeeh, dunno about the illegal bit. Sure, giving up a false address is certainly dishonest, but I am not sure there's a law governing the use of a false address in the way described here...
