Some help please. What is the "Local loop"? I see in a lot of posts but have now idea what it refers to. Thx in advance

the "local loop" refers to "south african assigned IP range/domain",,hope this helps

It can either be the access network from:

1. the subscriber's side of the main distribution frame (MDF) in the exchange,

or

2. the subscriber's side of the street distribution cabinet (SDC) that is linked to the MDF via a main distribution cable.

The def I like:

The copper wire strands and interconnecting joins neccessary to provide a pair of connection paths, one for transmit and one for receive, between the subscriber and the exchange which form a closed electronic loop used to facilitate communication.
