Hi All

I am looking for a ISP which offers the cheapest local only accounts. I know about Openweb, but I would rather go for a 10gb SAIX based account.

Or is IS the way to go?

I would suggest WebAfrica's Local IS account.
R130 for 30GB.

What makes WA different is their support is amazing and I've tried other ISP's but WA is def tops!

If you find someone who is cheaper, I can bet you now, when you have problems, you'll be on your own but WA's support is top notch!

Their system is also great, many places, you can buy online but have to pay before you get activated, WA allow you to activate your account immediately and pay later which is great (for me anyways) because I hate waiting!

That's my 5c :D

Openweb has OpenBrowse which allows you to surf international sites on your local cap, So I suggest that you use Openweb. I have been using them for quite some time, without any problems.

I can tell you WebAfrica does a prepaid R19 per gig local only SAIX. It is prepaid meaning it rolls over each month and you don't have to use it all in 1 month. I like prepaid as it is 1 less headache to worry about.

Iam thinking of a 10gb SAIX Based account, just because I see so many complaints about the IS accounts

SolConnect (www.solmatrix.co.za) have a 10GB SAIX local only account for R150 and also "uncapped" SAIX local only from R495 (with a fair usage policy).

I have had excellent service and support from them.

I cannot believe people would pay R19 a GB for SAIX or R525 fior 35GB's when you can buy a 30GB local account through Openweb for R130.

You are paying R395 more! You can just as well go and buy the original DVD or software application! Pirating it is too expensive at that price!

Axxess will give you 35G for R525

fair usage policy is BS you hear me... BS!

Uncapped is uncapped!

wait... this is south africa... any way the consumer can get screwed, they will...

I agree it is madness. But the is newsserver is getting frustratingly slow. It becomes a question of: is the extra money worth the frustration? The answer if you have the extra cash lying around is a resounding no. If you were to skip going to a restaurant once you could afford to get rid of the frustration of the slow is newsserver.

I'm still hoping telkom does something with local bandwidth in november.

Spending as much money as we do on internet is madness, but its a madness terlkom has imposed on us.
