I connect fine to Shadowfire on a local account: za.shadowfire.org

You could also try local EFNet: irc.ac.za

Eugh, ZAnet still exists?

I was a frequent IRC'er on ZAnet in the mid 90's but since the arrival of mic & webcam chat room software, why bother?

ZAnet is still around and there are people on it.. though conversing or joining other channels are pointless as you run into the same ppl everywhere. I fear it is a dying server, and everyone else is moving elsewhere.
