Something that ASnogarD brought up in the old forums, was this:
I think there is network shaping locally, I tried to play a game online locally and the lag made the game unplayable, but my local surfing was not effected.

diff in latency : @ 2:15 pm Fri 1 Latency @ SGS Dashur server av 240
diff in latency : @ 7:25 pm Fri 1 Latency @ SGS Dashur server av 40

Can anyone confirm if the shaping is local and int. or just int. ?

Its very strange, but I get the exact same problems. Due to my involvement in SGS, I even have to do certain admin tasks during the day, and have noticed my pings are generally between 200ms and 400ms anytime before about 4pm, after which my pings return to normal.

Generally pinging ANY type of server, not particularly the type of UDP ping over the game's port, I receive a very high ping. My personal assumption is that there's a general lag over the entire network during office hours.

I just said that.. lag between abt 12-4pm is just due 2 mass local traffic.. not telkoms fault.. well in away.. but its got nothing 2 do with adsl.. its that they cant support it all..

We've been monitoring now since early July on a ADSL line. The line's never been capped, so all the results are no a non capped service. The International is shocking to say the least. DigiNET based services can easily get half the amount of latency, as can most ISDN based dialup solutions...
