I was thinking maybe If some 1 can get a emule server even if its international but it should only be able to allow SA people. That could work. Cause the amount you transfer from the server isint that musch!

ps: it seems strange going through this thread, and i see first or 2nd time posters asking for invites, seems like a "trap" to me ie. to catch who is handing out invites
 
When was the last time someone looking for an invite went to http://www.bitfarm.co.za/ and read the bottom line ?! :)

That site is for torrents and is local right :confused: I don't care, I'm not signing up :p

lol nc bounced me.....altho.....i did inform them my ports on utorrent werent forwarded correctly at the time and was getting <7kb/s......so i did that 'on holiday thing' ...b4 i could get a chance to fix it i was bounced and i hadnt even dwnloaded nethin yet properly...so ya ppl that arent jerks(with egos the size of great bhuda rather than a ninja)... feel free to send invites to wherever got 750gb of stuff and unlimited local cap
 
people are not planning on making this thing grow....that is why internet is still like it is in south africa..and then they all want to moan about it....go figuer
 
there is always going to be leeches i think,, its how every other country works. and they got everything. the more leeches the more seeders only difference is more people are having the excitement of actually getting some things. kepping it small is not making it grow.. and it will not be any different if the whole of south africa was linked

It's not small. BitFarm has thousands of members ;)

I can usually pull down a 350MB file in less than an hour. :)

There are two problems with the leechers... they log onto the site and download as much as they can and then disconnect before they can re-seed the file to others... and they upload stuff that they are not prepared to seed. They are a plague. It is better to only invite people that I know well and trust. There is a free tracker here for new guys...

so how does it work then... how much would you have to share just to be able to get some stuff. how much do people generaly upload a month...explain how it works?

* Access to the newest torrents is conditional on a good ratio!
* Low ratios may result in severe consequences, including banning in extreme cases (and yes, they do do it).
* Basically, you just have to seed whatever your download for 24 hours after it has finished downloading onto your computer.
* you have to keep your bank hours at 100 (if it drops to 0 you get banned).
* you get bonus points for seeding beyond the requested time.
* Users who sent an invite to a person are held responsible for that person's behaviour and seeding. If he is a leecher, then the person who invited him will also be banned.
* privacy is asked for an respected. We don't like to advertise the site too widely. This is really the only other forum where we talk about it. We don't want to attract too much attention.
* participation in the board and forum are expected. This means posting, voting, logging in, etc. They are a community.
* Proof that you are a member in good standing of other online communities will help very much. If you have a low post count, or if you beg for invites you will probably be ignored.

It is therefore STRONGLY suggested that you only ask for an invite if you have an unlimited local account or 30 Gigs per month. Anything less than that is not really enough to participate effectively.

It's not a question of "being able to upload x amount" to get access.
It's about people not willing to risk their own accounts, which they are laying on the line by inviting people.

You've probably gotten a grasp about how hard it is getting an account by now.
That's the pure and simple reason others won't just invite random people.

Leeches are not peers. Leeches are users that upload nothing or only a fraction of what they download, thus no. The more leechers does not mean the more seeders. That's the whole problem, they take but don't give back, which means some other seeder has to seed 2x as much data back in order to make up for them.
 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but here's what I think he meant :

How much in total should be uploaded?

Anyway, you should, to abide by the rules, upload to a 1:1 ratio, meaning, you upload as much as you download in the end.

For an example, if you want something that is 350mb, you'll download 350mb and will need to upload 350mb in turn.

So in theory, your upload would be the total you decide to download.
