Local torrent site invites.

Woo local torrent invites must be hot property now that local is uncapped and free. People must be itching to ask here :D
 
Its so lame, they should be trying their best to get people into the sites.
Torrent isnt like "that of which we dont speak" in that its not one server with okes pulling off of it, the more seeders the better.
They should prolly be more open with bandwidth being more available locally now.
 
Why oh why would you need an invite to get onto a local torrent site? :confused:

I just don't get it.

Just set up a ratio system of uploads to downloads, to avoid being flooded by a bunch of leechers.
 
I dont like local i would rather buy another account than use local.
My probs with local.

1) Late releases.
2) Leechers > Seeders.
3) Hit and Runs.
4) Just not enough people to make it run smooth.

Therefore i conclude Int > Local

There are actually simple solutions for all those problems:

1.) Open up the site so anyone can join. This will ensure that the latest shows/software/whatever gets shared much quicker.
2.) Use a Download vs. Upload ratio. This will encourage people to seed their stuff constantly to improve their ratio.
3.) Force new users to seed a certain amount of data before being able to download anything.
4.) Open up the site.

Uncapped local is the catalyst that was needed to get everything going. Now these site's admins just need to get their acts together. It's a win-win situation for everyone.

I suppose opening the site up will solve alot of these probs but there will be alot of hit and runners cos of 384k / 512k connections , i mean on 384k you get +-38kb/s down and +-14kb/s and 512 just slightly better. It works on the invite system so people only get to make on account. If it was open to public , you can create an account , dload till ur account gets banned then make a new one.

I dunno , Ill just stick to Int :)

Ye but whats a suitable amount? if its to low they can just do it again on a diff acount but if its to high then ppl will struggle. like the 384k'ers and 512k'ers , thinking a speed test when making an account to allocate you a target

I don't know - there's an entire world of movies, music and software out there. They should just create some new torrents and share some of the stuff they have on their hard drives. That will ensure that new content makes it onto the network.

Just use the ratio system, where someone cannot download if the upload:download ratio is below 1:1. That will ensure that everyone seeds at least as much as they download.

but with this system what i seed has o be something that the users of that torrent site want. If I try to upload stuff from SowetoTV its likely that I may never reach the needed target.

Well, the more users there are, the more likely it will be that someone there will want to download your seeded items. Of course, if you insist on only uploading stuff from SowetoTV, you might never be able to download anything... :D

I dont like rules....And besides most of the content sucks(SowetoTV ahemahem :p) or not very new..I will stick to Saix and IS FTP servers hehehe... This local torrent scene just aint gonna happen

ratio is important especially locally... otherwise there will be abuse... the guys spending the time and money uploading the stuff need something in return... they are of course paying for their uploads... if you want a local only account and you arent prepared to follow rules and upload as much as possible then tough... if you dont want ratio then download internationally and use your cap... your choice at the end of the day...
