Local Torrents

lol, wtf do you mean its not your fault? How can you not be held accountable for the people you invite when you've been specifically told to use some common sense? I'm glad to see that warnings are being handed out for bad invites, and I'll be gladder still when the first bans come down.

People need to learn to respect their accounts and use their invites responsibily. We're not playing games here.
 
martmeister this is a copy and paste from one of the torrent sites with regards to inviting people. This should shut you up:

"We do not want to see invite threads/posts on other boards! We will be actively scanning all the boards (yes, we're pretty sure we know of all of them) for these types of threads. Participating in these threads puts everyone here at risk and proves that you are not responsible enough to stay here. So:

ANYONE found participating in these threads will be banned. We will invesitgate all new signups and if they are found to be from one of these threads/posts, we will disable their account and the person who invited them."

So as you can see, you can sing Sarie Maree through your poephol and still neither you nor anyone in this forum will get an invite.

I'm done.

yes yes I read that on the site. I still stand by my example of inviting your best mate and he sucks at seeding...now he makes you look bad cos he gets banned, thats the same as inviting a stranger who does the same.

Did you ask the guys who you have know for 3 years if you could copy and paste that from the invite.php page?

Anyway I am just pulling your chain. my mouth is now offically shut.

personally I find it easier(and muuuuch quicker) to go across the road to the vidshop and pay 5 bucks to rent

1) Because they are talking about torrents on this forum ?

2) Because they seem to think they know everything about torrents and it somehow makes them important ?

Most of my downloads I do from oversea's torrent site and I dont need to be invited. What is availible on the torrent.co.za site and why do you need to be invited... is it not the more people the faster the download will be and the bigger the peers and seeds will be...

That might be true but the boys are wanting to use their local bandwidth to download from local torrents. And hence the discussion. :D
 
I know Kung-Fu !!!!

In my opinion, I think that we should be encouraging SA users to enter the local torrent scene.

  • If they leech, then suspend their account after 2 weeks.
  • If they have a poor ratio, then suspend their account after 2 weeks.
Maybe they might be able to contrib to the whole scene ????

P.S. Some poor bastard that does NOT know me took a chance on me and invite me to ............ !!!! And I have just reached a ratio of 1.0 (uploaded 73GB in 2 months)

you dont need an invite there, just need to register.

problem in this bandwidth starved country is that due to the nature of our telecoms situation you more often than not likely to find more leechers than seeders. hence needing an invite to other sites in order to ensure that people seed in order to keep a certain ratio.

I am in the same boat. Have upped 37 gigs since the end of jan and i am on a lowly 192k line :-). Also got my invite from someone i didnt know who took a chance...

I also have a 27gig local cap..And I've seen an ad from my service provider on
one of these torrents..
Will someone pleez take a chance and send me an invite??..
I really have a lot to seed.
 
Torrents strive on more users. This is how the technology is designed. This being true means all private trackers are rather silly. They generally function on an elitist attitude (something I've seen MANY times in regard to people discussing these invite sites - even here - and their "circle") and are a bunch of not so fun fun nonsense.

What of the good 'ole days of torrents.x86? Oh the joys of just maintaining a ratio and not stressing about a paranoid invite only system.

Just remember people, with torrents more users ALWAYS means more speed. Even if it's by 1kBs.

Pity that my 30 local gigs I have a month are a total waste as of right now :/
