how but this then -

exclude the down loader, just allow ip's to the saix game servers and the authentication int of battle field.

patches, well either all of them local if can otherwise allow the IP's ftp site or its down loader's locations.

surly that wouldn't take 99% of the network with it from an isp.

Depends on the game. I only play Wolf ET, but that uses just about nothing ! On a fullish server, for an hour play probably about 20MB (up and down)...

I wouldn't need uncapped local for it though, I get by on my 1 GB SAIX per month. Don't play too much, just every now and then :)

I hear Battefield games chew bandwidth, but I have not confirmed this...

why not a 50% drop in prices for gaming accounts ?

since both the gaming proxies from ODS and Openweb seems to have failed miserably.

and besides that seems every one is enjoying the share of the loot that telkom has provided them and itself...

the point is how are you supposed to afford a dsl line rental and isp package if you are a student/schooler ?

then we are not even mentioning the cost of games...

correct me if im wrong but if you only have a local cap surely you cant play BF 2142 or CSS because BF 2142 needs to connect to the master server, and CSS needs to connect to steam?? and they are international

obviously if the game requires int then you allow it but then it becomes a hybrid solution....

Yeah well SAIX can't just allow local only to just authenticate on Steam or something else is BEYOND me. How bandwidth can it take?

Answer: It doesn't matter how much; it's too much for Telscum

But wait till November. If hell freezes over, the sun dies, the crime rate goes down and gaming hardware gets reasonable prices in SA, we might, just might, get local uncapped with Telscum distinguishing between local and international.

Not likely, but who knows.;)

/QUOTE]

You can download whole games through Steam  don't think that would be the best move for the monopoly from an economic point of view...

Besides that IS is the one who's focused on this whole 30/3GB local/international spit account idea... so shouldn't you be cussing at them?

Why not look at a more realistic and economically viable solution, like a innovative local ISP overing proxy authentication for gamers on a local only account?
