Hey Guys i was just looking for some input any help would be appreciated.

Basically I am currently working in the DRC and will be for the next 2 months and i was looking for a way to VPN back to SA so that i could lower my ping on SA servers...Currently i get between 150-250 on avg, my connection here is really good (10 mbs +-) its just the ping that sucks.

I tried using WTFast but it did nothing all most of the other VPN services i have found don't have an SA server.

Regards
Afro

This is a hard one, why do you require the VPN? I use a VPN 24/7 to be more accessible on the www. I have tested several VPN packages which has SA servers, many which you may see in the ‘top 10’ are good when it comes to connectivity, but when it comes to gaming then well… many are blocked. I currently use VPN Unlimited (Keep Solid) and I cannot use the local server to play on Valve servers. It works, but then gives me a clear message that I am using an VPN and denies access. I have not tested it with other gaming services.

It is all about the purpose, but there may be other VPN services which may allow gaming. That is whether you want to use it to game in SA.

It's all got to do with the routing. So in theory you could possibly find a VPN server that uses more efficient routing but it's not guaranteed so it probably wouldn't help that much.

What does a traceroute look like to a SA server?

This was to a Telkom CSGO server

You'll find you are probably being routed via Mauritius or something stupid like that in which case a VPN will be of no use.

My understanding of a VPN:
You are driving your car on a highway with all the other cars. When you enable the VPN, your car has now more tinted windows so other drivers can not see what is going on in your car, but you are still using the same highway with the other cars.

Even when your are using a local SA VPN, your traffic still need to come to this side using the same route unless the VPN provider have their own dedicated line from where you are connecting from.

I can’t see you getting any real benefit using the VPN and the odds are it will actually make it worse.
