Hi everyone,

One of my clients has requested that I log Skype (and presumably all others comms methods, barring email) for one particular user.

I once experimented with this, in the dark ages. Things have definitely moved on in the past few years.

What is the recommended method/app' for this task, please?

For the record, I don't approve of these tactics.

Thank you.

have a look at eblaster and SpectorPro from Spectorsoft

$100 and they have been doing this for years.

Spector Pro is crazy. Tested it out years ago on my PC. Recorded everything with no noticeable performance hit. Process hidden very well too.

Spector Pro we only know this because it was in American Pie - Band Camp

Spychest.com

But yea used Spector pro before and it was scary.

Keylogger, screenshots, coms intercept, email duplicate, Internet history reports etc etc

For the record.... may I know which company this is via PM, just so that I know who to avoid when it comes to future job prospects?

Hi Sonic,

I wouldn't feel comfortable disclosing that information at this point, due to my position. Sorry to disappoint.

I will say though, that in all of my years in the industry, whether directly involved in security, as a user or as an admin', I have found these practices to be frightfully common. Always play it safe.

I have actually been involved in the implementation of Spectorsoft products as a professional service.

after a few months we shut down that department. The main reason was the attitude of business owners. It worked at its best when EVERYONE was recorded and knew it. management would then rely on the dashboard to highlight the "exceptions" where abuse or fraud was occurring. i.e. a really comprehensive approach to addressing the lack of transparency and productivity by making sure everyone is measured equally in the same manner.

Unfortunately that is not what owners and managers wanted. They were more interested in targeting individuals and wanting to catch people after that fact, rather than address the actual problem preemptively.

We thus stopped offering the application due to these ethical concerns.

Bravo.

Fairly common?

More like REQUIRED.

Everywhere I worked this is standard practice.

This is why when I need to communicate with my family over Skype I use my trusty encrypted VPN

This makes me nervous as we are in a satellite office with our own Internet connection, I aways assumed because we were seperate from everyone else that we could do whatever we wanted. There is no Internet policy and we just manage it ourselves.

Never considered that there might be stuff like this installed. The ****ty antivirus we have is so ineffective I just assumed they don't care
