Logitech z5500 vs z5400

I have the Z5400. On the back of the controller you have a 6ch direct input or 3 stereo inputs, then there's 2 optical inputs and 1 coax input. My PS3 and pc is currently connected to it. The sound quality is good, it's THX, DTS and Dolby digital pro logic 2 certified. I'm happy with it. If you have a small room, you don't really need to spend the extra money on the Z5500's but then again even if you have a large room you still don't need too.
 
Or get the Logiteci Z-5450, with wireless back speaker.
 
i think im going to go for the 5400 the 5500 for the extra power they come with as i dont think il ever crank them up.

I've got the z2300 and the loudness is insane. 200Watt RMS goes a long way, believe me. Anything more than half way is way overkill and on full blast my room's door and windows start rattling. :eek:

I'm not an audiophile so I'm not sure if I'm qualified to give detail on the quality side. Some people can bitch and moan about the smallest thing when it comes to sound. But IMHO the quality of the z2300 is awesome. I'm only running an Audigy4 but games and movies sound perfect. The bass make explosions in games like BF2 and COD4 fantastic.

These will probably be the last speakers I'll buy for my PC. :)
 
any1 get any ideas where i can get cheap flat top speaker stands from??? in pta??
 
I'm struggling with the same dilemma. 5400 vs 5500. Really can't decide. I have a large loung(about 5x9) but I don't want to shirk R1000 and end up regrettin it. Any advice? Or maybe anyone with Z5500 for under R4000?

You won't ever need new speakers once you get the Z-5500.
 
You're probably right. Again, looking for a deal under R4000.
 
Z5500 is one awesome set of speakers
Z-5450 - too much problems with the wireless connectivity and sound quality of those back speakers can vary depending on connectivity - stay away from these until Logitech can better the wireless technology

I had some demo units of the Z5500 for around R2300 but all got sold. I'm hoping to get a few more sets so check with me in about 2 weeks time.

Absolutely!!!!!!!!

The AMPs in a HT system is faaaaar better/more powerful than theose puny ones in the 5500s.

There is no way that the 5500s can compare to a customised HT system.

I know I did that.

Ended up being cheaper (slightly) as well...
