Hey , I'm looking at new speakers to replace my old crappy ones . I have a asus crosshair MB with the x-fi soundcard , and while its not the greatest it will let me use the full 5.1 of the Z506's.

Now here is my question , are crappy 5.1's better than a good pair of 2.1's ?

Im going to use the speakers the most for bass heavy music and the bigger sub and more power of the Z623 will be nice :) I will also do some gaming and thats where i think the Z506 would be better

The Z506's have 75w total power and the z623 have 200w , but are they worth double the price ?

Anyway if anyone owns one of these or has any input it would be great, and pls dont tell me to get Z5500's i dont want to spend that amount on PC speakers , Thanks

The Z623 is the replacement for the Z-2300. Although the Z623 aren't as good (smaller sub, lower quality components, no wired remote), they are still excellent speakers and THX certified. I would take 2.1 over 5.1 any day. Music only plays through 2.1 speakers in a 5.1 setup (or at least it's supposed to) since music is stereo/2 channel.

You will want a nice sound card, either the Xonar DX or Xonar Essence STX (if you want decent headphones at a later stage, which is the best way to listen to music). Although your mobo's one is at least better than most.

Thanks for the advice postmanpot , im gonna try find some z-2300's or ill just get the z623
