How to silently install VNC onto a remote computer....

Why do you want any other program? I use LogMeIn all the time and I love it... plus the fact that it also works on my iPhone is really great ++++

@Garyvdh, would UltraVNC work from begind a firewall, the way Logmein does?

Any program that initiates the connection from within the network (i.e. LAN side of the firewall) will work with a firewall. Programs that listen for a connection from outside will not work with a firewall unless the firewall is configured to allow it. Logmein is an example of the former, VNC the latter.

The trick is to have the system being controlled connect to a server outside of the firewall. We have our own software which we have written which does just this. We have a server at our office that listens for connections and we connect to our server and remotely control the workstations via our server. For our larger clients, we also install our server component on the clients server to allow us access to support them. Their workstations connect to the server which is inside their firewall and we open up a port to the server to get remote access.

Or you could simply setup an openvpn between the pc's and not have to use international bandwidth or have it run as slowly as logmein.

Just tried logmein. Very easy to setup, and very easy to use. But as you say, its a little slow.
