So, I live about 1.2 kms from work and was thinking about getting a wireless repeater like this one.

I've read on one of these threads that it is illegal for your wifi to go across certain boundaries? Is this true and what are the implications?

I basically want to access my adsl connection from work and stream music from home to my phone/tablet.

Feasible or not? Any difficulty with setting this up?

I don't know much about such devices, but if it is line of sight then check for obstructions in between ?

Rather get a proper directional antenna - something like a WUG kit - see http://ptawug.co.za/site/gettingstarted/

Ah, I see. I was being a dummy. The bad news is that I won't be able to mount any of these devices onto the top of the building as I am renting out an apartment

I guess I could do this when I get my own house.
