Long Telkom call centre hold-times

Will a follow up interview be done showing the PRO what utter rubbish she spoke and get her comments? Or will she just move on to another government department to lie for them.

ag ka man, I am so pissed off and tired of waiting for Telkom to response Ive given up, Ef u Telkom !!!!! Then to start blaming Eskom lol, this has been a issue for more than 10 years !!! So jaa whatever, I wish you close down actually, no service is better than k@k service......sorry for the rant

I have since resorted to the app for fault reporting, the following up is still a pain though if you want to push them for progress

10210 used to have a "phone me back" option (might only have been for Telkom landline callers), anyone know if this has been discontinued?

Thats gone - and closing down that feature is moronic in my opinion

I guess I got lucky yesterday. Called 10210, agent picked up in 30 secs. Problem resolved in 3 mins.

Well PRO people do get paid to lie & spin BS, it's their job.

I am sure lieing isn't in the job description!
If it is then each statement issued by a PRO should state I have been paid to lie to show the company in a good light.
(you must guess what is a lie)

Past experiences (no wait encounters) with telkom leaves me totally without sympathy for them...

Wow surely the the reporter challenged the Telkom PRO when she said there were no capacity problems. To me the article is just regurgitated spin with no solutions in sight except that you shouldn't use the call centre

Yes - especially when you know that, slow as the call centre is, it is going to take weeks *longer* if you use one of the "alternatives". If anything happens at all. At least when you call, your chances are (slightly) better that you will actually get someone to speak to you, and will know your message has registered. With Twitter et al: not so much.

Also how about, did the PRO feel uncomfortable saying this? Surely you can put more pressure on her to answer truthfully when you know what she is saying is BS!

It's a job pre-requisite for becoming a PRO - sociopathic personality. So, no; no discomfort there.

Example: "not under capacity" and yet, before they "didn't renew" the contracts of those however many people (450?) the average wait time was about 20 or 25 minutes. Now it's over an hour and a half. No, not understaffed at all!

They have been crying wolf for so long with that pre-recorded message about "experiencing high call volumes" which you get day or night, weekday or weekend, holiday time or mid-year that no-one takes that message seriously any more. It's just another lie/excuse that they use to break the monotony of the awful music on hold track.

Who remembers when the 10210 system used to tell you how many people there were ahead of you in the queue and an estimated wait time, and offer to call you back? It worked damn well. And it wasn't that long ago - I used it less than 6 years ago (and probably much more recently than that).

Not renewing contracts for 480 staff and telling the people this should not impact the service is just stupid which ever way you look at it , and most subscribers waiting more than half an hour to be answered

I feel a Monty Pythin quote coming on here.

[Delivered in broad Yorkshire accent, after a disdainful sniff] "Luxury. We 'ad to wait on line for hour an' 'aff".

Seriously, if the waiting time was ONLY half an hour I'd still be happy to call. But the other day I sat for over 90 minutes and eventually gave up. Who know how long I might have continued to wait if my patience hadn't run out.

This is really not my idea of fun.

I've waited longer than a half hour phoning 10217 (business) and just nothing.

It's pathetic to say the least. As if our economy isn't under enough strain with Eskom, now Telkom also deems it fit to waste productive hours

The work line just went down again reported it online and 1 and 1/2 hours later it is back up.

Pure luck. Can't believe that it was attended to so quickly.
Phoning telkom is like being an appie sent to the store to get a "long weight".

Haha the younger generation will not understand this :D

Dialing 10210 now. Here goes 12:40.
Edit: Do they ever not have the message "We are experiencing high call volumes"?
