Lonmin - What do people think

Mmmh people are making profits already:cry: Why didn't i buy at 0.29c. Now its too late for 0.41c entry.

I dont think it's too late.

The most interesting thing I can see is that on Monday and Tuesday LON.SJ bled shares. Today the buys were almost 3 times that of the sells, and that was BEFORE the price started climbing. and most of the volume wasnt when the price started going up which would obviously make more sense I think something changed in the market and people started buying, even at the same crap price same as two days before when everyone was SELLING!!!

Something is up!!!

If anyone's talking up the share, they must be trying a pump and dump.

Those broker forecasts aren't updated on a daily basis. Analysts usually only update them a couple of times a year, and they probably stopped covering Lonmin a while back already.

The ROE and ROA numbers should tell you something, and they are from the last time Lonmin reported, so they're probably worse.

Not sure what you mean with buys being 3 times more than sells?

I also wouldn't be surprised if their workers went on strike again next year...

you guys are pushing up the price. As soon as you run out of money to pump into Lonmin the share price will tank again :D

Not me.

I bought 100 of them at R45 and sold them at R2.78.

you can get it cheap still. if im not mistaken you can get a npl lon share for 1 cent and exercise your right for one share for 21 cents meaning you pay 22 cents a share

Only if you owned shares before the rights issue was bought up.

The you can buy 47 shares per 1 share you own at 21cents a pop

I'd be in heaven if they can get up to R5 odd bucks before 2016

Mother of noodle nipples I would have a hefty bonus then

Like most miners, Lonmin has been hit by the sharp fall in commodities prices. But it harbours a number of home-grown problems that raise questions over the company’s long-term viability. Lonmin has never really recovered from the 2012 Marikana tragedy, in which more than 30 striking miners were killed by security forces outside its mines. A five-month-long protest of platinum miners last year further hobbled the company. In the negotiations that brought an end to the protests, Lonmin lifted the wages of many of its staff, leaving the company with some of the highest labour costs in South Africa.

And, unlike many of its — admittedly battered — competitors, Lonmin has placed all its eggs in one product. But the price of platinum has halved since 2011, as demand for cars in the formerly-booming Chinese market has ebbed. More than half of world platinum demand goes to the production of catalytic converters.

That points to perhaps the biggest question mark over longer-term demand for platinum. Many analysts believe that the travails of Volkswagen — which has admitted to falsifying emissions standards — could hasten the end of the diesel engine. And with it, one of the key commercial uses of the silver metal

All investment Guru's how does the rights offer work. I have accepted it but when do they deduct the cost of the rights? I assume its on the day they become normal shares, is this correct?
