Hi all,

I'm looking for a 3G modem that will work in bridge mode. I have a specialized VPN firewall behind ADSL modems to connect a number of sites together. This firewall requires the modems to be in bridge mode.

However, a couple of my sites do not have ADSL. Here I'm using 3G with Linksys routers (now on the unrestricted APN). Unfortunately, the firewall is still behind the linksys router, and the VPN does not work.

To fix this, I need a 3G modem that will work in bridged mode.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have not worked with the Linksys 3G setup specifically but i'm pretty sure you'll find the the bridging happens in the Linksys.

The modem is exactly that - just a modem. Bridging is when you bridge between the modem and the LAN and this bridge is built in the router.

Also wants to sound like the Linksys should work.

Maybe try the setting where all incoming ports are forwarded to a specific IP. This effectively makes the 3G side appear local on the network, so no routing is required. It's the option next to the 'Port Forwading' menu tab.

Might be that this is what you meant by bridging (which by definition ties two interfaces of the same type together)?

If you still battle, give me a shout and I'll give you a call.
