Hi guys,

I'm looking for a budget tablet to play music and watch movies from, maybe a little basic gaming but nothing more.
I've already got an Ipad but don't want to use it in the car and when I go travelling. Not too fused about 3g so wifi only will be ok. I was looking at an Asus memopad 7" but I'm sure there other recommendations from you lot who know alot more than I do. Have looked for Nexus 7" but they seem hard to find!
My budget is around 2.5k.

LG G Pad 7, used Nexus 7 can be found or may be even another iPad Mini? Why not just use the one you have?

Options very limited in that price bracket. We are being screwed over while the rest of the world gets good quality Chinese tablets with good specs.

It is really difficult to find a Nexus device, only available at orange at the moment for 3000.I dont suggest buying a second hand nexus as I have heard that some units have issues and you will need a warranty.

You only really have 2 options:

1. The lenovo A5500, it is averaging R2000 on most sites

2. Huawei new T1 mediapad 10inch lte+wifi

My pic is the Huawei tablet. It has a snapdragon 410(good performer) and huawei is known to use better quality lcd panels vs lenovo

It's an Ipad 2 so its fairly dated and my wife uses it quite a lot too. I also don't want another IOS device, it's too much of a hassle to copy stuff etc.

Arr0w, ditto on the 2nd hand Nexus. I saw a few for a good price but wasn't willing to take the risk. I'd like to spend more but I can't justify spending more for what I'll be using it for. It'll mostly sit in the car and play audio books (yes I know I can use my phone :) ) and play movies etc when travelling.

I quite like the look of the Lenovo A5500.

What do you think of the Huawei 7" ?

Make sure you get one with a Full HD screen.

I went for a nexus 7. Its pretty old tech by now, but it was a good choice screen-wise.

Else maybe the the Kindle Fires...they're on special at the moment I think...like 1.5k. Don't have any experience with them but seems like a good price considering its from a big player.

Dont buy that 7inch huawei it has outdated specs and stuck on jellybean.

Are you ok with a wifi only tablet?

Same here, may be old tech but damn its still good in comparison with many of the current models out there.. when this one goes ill just get another!

nah...don't. It was a good purchase, but it is 2013 tech & one can def do better now.

I say choose between these 2 ;

The Lg g pad 8 16gb is wifi only
The lenovo A5500 16gb is 3g+wifi

There are more less or par for what you require.

The lenovo has stereo speakers if that helps you make your choice.

Put up a wanted advert on here and Carbonite. Got many offers when I did that
There's a tab 3 wifi 10" for R2000,
And a Tab 4 lte 10" for R2999 on Carbonite

Galaxy Tab 4 7" has a better screen quality than the Lenovo's that are 1280x800 but on the same token, the Lenovo's arent that bad.
