I'm working on a PC for a friend that has the following specs

Core 2 Duo E4500
4GB RAM
Motherboard: Intel 946GZ

I've installed Windows 10 on the computer but I can't find the correct display driver.

I have found a driver after googling "Intel 946GZ windows 10 drivers", it's a 22.8MB download, but if I try and install it, it tells me that the driver is older than the current one.

The Device manager states that the current driver is just the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

This is the device ID.

Can someone help please?

Windows 10 should already be using the latest driver for the integrated graphics chip on the CPU. That's sort of the point of streamlining all the update things that 10 manages...

What makes you think you dont have the latest ones currently running :)?

This is normal foolish Win10 message. Try to get driver from the motherboard maker website.

Because the graphics looks crap and there are only 3 supported resolution modes, none of which support a 18.5" wide screen monitor.

I had this same issue upgrading my HP 620 notebook.

Force the older driver. It works.
