Wow, this site has changed a lot. Been a while.

I live in Linden and I am looking for a gym that does not charge ridiculous fees. Most I will pay for gym is R300.
VA in Cresta/Northcliff and Victory Park asks R800 - R850. Rediculous.

I use to gym and VIVA in Fourways for only R270 per month. Awesome Gym.

Anybody know of a Gym in or close to Linden?

Multiply is not worth it anymore. Three years ago I was paying R130 for a premier membership.
Over the years they have been changing their rules and the current rule is 25% off.
I had the premier membership and my fees were R492 (excluding the multiply membership fee of R238) in 2018. Premier membership with VA was R990 and the single gym membership was R900. I am not a member anymore so I am unsure about the current rates.

Friends who are with discovery say they pay R240 for a single gym membership and Vitality is R259.

I am with Vitality at VA Red and pay R75 per month. Partner is not on vitality and pays R300 per month. So see if you can get into a Virgin Active Red somewhere.

This is k@k indeed. I thought they still used those bands where the more you gym, the less you pay. Need to look into this. I do know I get discount on Myriad product with Multiply though, so will need to do some sums access monthly cost and all discounts.

I pay R199, but gym is not close to you. The Gym Company Bromhof.

Also. Fscking sheisters. We were paying cash, then suddenly one month they told us we were a 4 months behind and need to pay it.

Or pay R900 per person and magically our contract and everything will be forgiven. So we paid the money to be relieved from their dodgy ways.

From the way the sales person was talking it sounded like they did from time to time to reduce the number of tenants. We learnt a lesson and keep all receipts from stuff like this now, but at that time we didn't.

Do they still do that whole, once a year you need pay an additional fee for "maintenance"?

Yep, once a year we pay a double premium for maintenance. Still by far the cheapest gym in our area so I put up with it. Have heard a few people had bad experiences with them though. Fortunately for us it has been fairly smooth sailing and we have been with them for over a year now. Me and the wife signed up, R199 each pm and the kids are free as its kind of a family contract.

As is so often the case it is mainly about convenience. The gym is very close to my house so it is just convenient to stop at compared to any other gym.

Fair enough. Same reasons we signed up with them in the first place. :) I did find parking to be a bit of an issue sometimes. Depending on where you stay, check out the Go health close to northgate as well. Facilities are a bit better, and the gym feels newer, with more of everything.

Plus, with multiply, you can get your gym free per month if you jump through their hoops - if you're so inclined.

Planet Fitness around the corner here is R299, so R800 does indeed sound ridiculous.

75% discount at VA with discovery or 100% if you hit your goals.

Tygervalley VA is R750 a month :(
