Hey guys. Im looking for a laptop for around R3500. which ones would you recommend? I know....im a broke bugger :D Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Thanks in advance ! :)

You can look on bidorbuy or auction venues with that price.
Or you could look for a netbook, I'd be surprised if you can't get one for R3500.

ive seen some laptops going for R4000 at game
tell me what specs you wanting and what you using it for also

Let me hijack this thread by also asking what laptop you guys would recommend for me.

I'm looking for a new laptop that doesn't cost more than R15000 (including microsoft office) but not less than R10000 (I don,t want a cheap laptop that will give me problems later on ;). I'd like to use it to watch movies, surf the internet, watch youtube videos, download music from the net, chatting online using a webcam, online share trading and futures trading (forex). I'll mostly use it as my desktop pc, meaning i'll use the power source and not the battery most of the time, but battery life is important to me.

So far I've been looking at the Acer travelmate laptops, is that the best brand? I've been advised that Acer breaks after a few short years.

@ OP i'd say look for 2nd hand laptops.. I prefer them over netbooks, but it totally depends on your needs?

@Sly21C Follow the link to pricecheck.co.za and basically select the speeds, HDD size you need and then view your options.. I found it an easy way to get the right laptop for myself! You can get a decent laptop for under 10000 that wont break, but if you want to spend more then :)

I would personally go for something like this toshiba, is more of a gaming laptop but at R13000 it'll do any kind of media you want! Nice screen for vidoes, HD support, nice screen size, since i assume you wont be moving it much and weights not an issue.
Specs:
* 2.26GHz Intel Core i5-430M
* 4GB (2x 2GB) RAM
* 500GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
* SuperMulti DVD Burner with Labelflash
* nVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M 1GB Graphics
* 18.4" Widescreen Display (1680 x 945)
* Integrated Webcam and Microphone
* 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
* Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

I've got a toshiba laptop(not as good as this) but i love it. Had it for a year so far and no issues. Cart it back and forth from uni alot! So it's built strong as it handles the textbooks quite well in my bag.

EDIT: I've never dealt with Cybertrek, but you could always just request a quote from toshiba.co.za

I love it :). I don't like the idea of a windows 7 operating systems being pre-installed on that laptop, why can't I have it on a cd? Is that possible?

I'm quite sure, it might come with the cd, but is already installed?
if not you could always use a cd key extracter to get your windows 7 cdkey, then get your hands on a windows 7 disk, pirated or not and install it using your key.

Ya missions I know but still legit.
