Hi guys,

I am currently with Afrihost on a 10mb uncapped line. It is not a premium line and they throttle downloads between 7am and 12pm which for me is understandable and not really a problem because i stream way more than i download. However, there are times that i cant even stream for eg right now. i cant open a youtube video at 144p and when it eventually stops buffering and starts, it still buffers. For me this is really unacceptable and I am tired of heading to Facebook to sort it out on their page because more often than none, the guys cant sort out the problem(not necessarily their fault).

A mate of mine said that there is a problem with their 10mb lines? Has anyone heard the same thing? Look i've run tests and things like that and checked settings and line noise etc and all is amazing. The exchange is litterally accross the street from me so i dont get it. Does anyone know of another ISP that has better network quality? i was looking at crystal web as they won best ISP? any feedback on that? I was also looking at axxess but they are on the MTN backbone, the same as Afrihost so wouldn't I have the same problem?

Regards
Mike

Oh yes, And could all this not be from loadshedding? Reason i say so is coz exchanges and routers go down and have to re calculate best paths for routing protocols etc.

Look at their feedback threads. Plenty of problems, and not just on 10Mb/s. I was with them until last month on a 2Mb/s line, some days couldn't stream for ****.

I would avoid anything to do with MTN.

Crystal Web's streaming has been good to me so far, but it's only been a month, so. Even Afrihost was awesome the first 6 months.

What bugs me is this is the 3rd month now and yeah, had problems from the start and just getting worse. Do you know what backbone Crystal is on by any chance?

Internet Solutions.

And yeah, their support is pathetic. If it can't be solved by a port reset and/or restarting the router, their support staff are clueless.

Internet Solutions. With the the IS ignite uncapped package for 2 years now and it's flawless.

I use Voxtelecom's Fatpipe with an uncapped bolt-on. been using this for the last 3 years and i'm extremely happy. good value for money
