OK so I've pretty much exhausted every MMO I currently have. I'm dying to play something new.

Here's the list of what I've played so far:

Anarchy Online
Audition Online
Entropia Universe
Eve Online
Flyff
Guild Wars
Gunz
HabboHotel (more like a virtual chatroom...)
Last Chaos
Mu Online
Puzzle Pirates
Rappelz
RF Online
Runescape
Second Life Teen
Tabula Rasa
The Lord of the Rings Online
There
The Saga of Ryzom
Tibia ME
Trickster Online
Upshift StrikeRacer
World of Warcraft

OK so that was a mouthfull lol! Basically what I want to know is if there's anything out there anyone can recommend I try out? I'd like a sci-fi MMO, but if there aren't any I guess I'll have to accept that fact! Preferably an extensive crafting system/great community and digestible graphics too.

So any ideas? A local download link would put the cherry on top of an awesome cake :D

Vanguard SOH is a WoW wannabe. Its quite refreshing for a change of scenery though. Was originally a Microsoft co-project, but I think Sony bought it out somewhere along the line.

I actually followed Vanguard throughout development, but sadly it seems as if it turned out a flop. SOE run it (they stuff everything up. Would be trying Star Wars Galaxies now if they didn't mess that up!). Apparently there's only around 35K subscribers :S

I've been thinking about giving City of Heroes a try, but don't want to buy it without trying it. The problem is the download is quite massive x_X Oh Telkom...why?!

...looking through the list i see you have missed out on UO ;)

may will see Age of Conan, from leaked betas (think thats the site) its better than warhammer. AoC should be really good from what i've seen and read - just wondering which sort of monster do you need to run the game smoothly...

sci-fi MMO; if only we could get some nice modern mmog such as shadow run (not the currently released ripp off from the rpg). There is vampire world whenever that is coming out which is vaguely looking if it could mean something :)

-AION might be awesome.

I'm definitely trying Aion when it comes out, I've been following it through beta.

With regards to UO...I want to give that a try. All the free trials seem to have expired though :/ If anyone knows of where I can get one, please let me know!

Reading through some info on the current state of AoC, I'm actually worried. They plan on releasing it by the end of May I think it is...but beta testers have told me that it's nowhere near ready for release. Apparently the lag is scary, as well as the number of unfinished places. Hopefully they'll work some magic before release.

I guess I'm just going to have to wait until the next generation of Sci-Fi MMOs are released. Looking forward to Stargate Worlds, as well as Star Trek Online. Eve Online will be implementing a huge update which allows you to walk around in Stations. Apparently a Firefly MMO is in development too. There's speculation that Blizzard are working on World of Starcraft (again), as well as Bioshock working on a new Star Wars MMO.

The problem is waiting though xD

AoC PvP weekend has just finished which basicly means its the start of the Beta month. Loads of positive news on the web in this regard with obvious balancing issue that has to be addressed (the reason for BETA)

Here's a link to a good blog site which covers the PvP weekend and also they made some gameplay video's -- enjoy http://www.keenandgraev.com/

Looking at the rest of the releases this year unfortunately nothing till the end of the year (Nov/Dec) when the other two contenders being Spellborn & War will be out. (Spellborn ftw!!) Looking East I realy hope that all you folks praying for the first non grinder asian game (AION) is not going to be dissapointed.:)

About OLD MMO's -- I resubbed to 3 of the existing MMO in the last 6 months. Starting with WOW ... did all the new content and all areas with new players from scratch to max in just more that a month ...>never again.

The next was Vanguard which I always believed is excellence buried in the worst case of performance issues imagable. Stopped after about 20 days ... after almost a year out still rotten performance ....> never again.

The last was EQ2. Bought the ROK all in one pack and jumped in a happy camper. Always was my favourite MMO with definately the most content of all. I barely lasted the 30 days free playtime that comes with the box.

I hope that Conan is ok because thats the only hope for me till at least the end of the year in looking for a new mmo. (Ordering it today I think)

I don't see Hellgate London on your list. I really don't play or have played any MMO's but HL is also worth checking out :)

i havent delved into the MMO world yet myself, but The Agency looks like it could be pretty awesome.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions :) I'm look into Jumpgate. I've considered it, but haven't heard from many players. Now that I have a first-hand opinion though...

Helgate London is shyte, and hardly a MMO either.

I've heard the same. Was apparently a huge disappointment.

Regarding The Agency, it does look cool, but Sony Online Entertainment are the publishers aren't they? Those three words may as well spell R.I.P in my book haha. They've messed up almost everything they've touched =/

Last night I downloaded Star Quest Online. Apparently regardless of the graphics it's a really good game, but so far I'm failing to have any fun. It's one of "those" MMOs...by that I mean an MMO that makes simple things really complicated, sucking the fun out of the game completely. The game runs in a window within a window too. It's all just really "omg" lol.

EDIT.

Oh yes, I almost forgot. I asked the friendly AGASA leader to host a few games on their FTP server to which he was happy to oblige. I found Planetside there already, which I've started downloading. I also asked him to host Anarchy Online, which I'm going to try again and see if I can get into and Sword of the New World, which is apparently a very good game. On top of that, I'm downloading Perfect World too. Hopefully one of these will stand out!

what about planescape tourment? Or is that too old for ye? There are a few that you havent mentioned so far I think they are all still running : Nox Online, Ultime online, Everquest, Lineage 2.

Hope you get what you're looking for :)

Have you tried City of Heroes/Villains? It is an old generation game with new content being added for free all the time. It is a very rich and detailed game world with a huge fanbase and community.

Give it a go, I always return to it after trying a new MMO, none of them seem to be able to do what this one does.

Lydon, how on earth do you manage to play like 9865875645343 MMO's? I'm just playing LotRO and it takes up a fairly large chunk of my available time, to say the least.

I love Anarchy Online as well and keep returning to it. My last foray into was a bit disappointing but that was because my org was almost empty. I am gonna wait until the graphics update is done and then give it a try again. :)

Tried Perfect World and it is very pretty and fun. The translations are Engrish however so be prepared to  over some of them lol. It didn't really grab my attention but I am currently looking for something new to play as well so am probably more fussy than usual...

I know SOE is sucky but EverQuest II is a great game, played it for three years and there is heaps of content a great crafting system and a pvp server. It is fantasy though. Beautiful graphics and music and of course player housing...I know not important for most but fun to have :D

is there somehwere , where one can buy everquest II and what ever addons there are for the game locally. I have been meaning to try this for ages now and have never gotten around to it

Not that I am aware of Darksun, we had to download it all...bloody nightmare. For some reason the distributors think there is no market for online gaming in SA
