-Less than R80K.
-Not older than 6 years.
-Hatchback - similar in size to a VW Polo.
-Decent mileage for the year.
-Engine size not an issue.
-no china knockoffs.

Why don't you look at autotrader?
 
I think he wants suggestions, i'd say look at a figo/fiesta, or a yaris, and a polo.
 
You will have to go older than 6 years to find anything reliable under R80k.

and if all else fails ... buy a city golf ... :twisted:
 
I know this is a bit older, but why don't you look at an older civic? They are as tough as nails!!
 
I had a Golf 1.4i few years back, wonderfully cheap car to run, even service on your own, if you're so inclined. The only issues I had was that once it reaced 140K on the clock, there were a few rattles in the body panels.

Don't golfs come with rattles standard from the factory?
