Look around for one of the usb speedtouch adsl modems. You wont find any usb router. Routers connect using ethernet ports.
Do you mean a USB ADSL Modem???
A router allows multiple devices to share 1 connection, a modem allows 1 device to use the connection.

I want one that does the following.
1. ADSL line comes in
2. ethernet ports on the other side for my home network (2 PC's and 1 laptop)
3. wireless access to browse anywhere in the house
4. it must be powered by a USB connection
Anything like that on the market?![]()
You want to run 2 pc's during a power failure - consider getting a generator.I want one that does the following.
1. ADSL line comes in
2. ethernet ports on the other side for my home network (2 PC's and 1 laptop)
3. wireless access to browse anywhere in the house
4. it must be powered by a USB connection

You said you want one that does the following:I dont want to run 2 PC's during a power failure, I only want to run my laptop and be able to use the net to entertain myself during a power failure.
I think you're going to need 2 devices. One adsl router with wifi for normal everyday use and one usb adsl modem for when the power is out. Right?1. ADSL line comes in
2. ethernet ports on the other side for my home network (2 PC's and 1 laptop)
3. wireless access to browse anywhere in the house
4. it must be powered by a USB connection
Think of it this way - there might be a device like that but it would suck some serious juice if you had to power it from your laptop. You're prolly right, I was just wondering if any devices like I want exist on the market, if not I'll have to buy 2 devices.
Well he could keep it plugged into one of the desktops.not to mention you need to keep it plugged into your laptop for power - kinda kills the portability of the laptop
I understand that but ZA_medic mentioned keeping it plugged into the laptop during normal operating use would kill the portability of the laptop - as neio required wireless - also for normal operating use - I suggested plugging it in to a desktop. For power cut use wireless is impossible as it needs to draw power from the laptop.the whole point of it is to get power when theres a power failure. plugging it in a desktop pc aint gonna help
Yeah and then when the power fails I unplug it from the desktop and plug it into my laptop.Well he could keep it plugged into one of the desktops.
I cant think of one that does everything you want and is still bus poweredYeah and then when the power fails I unplug it from the desktop and plug it into my laptop.
