As the topic says, I'd like to hire someone who knows their **** for a project I'm going to do (yes you get paid money). It's for a client of mine, they supply different materials etc to property developers custom made stuff etc.

Already have a few ideas and essentially want to push this into a Wordpress CMS for simplicity and keeping their costs low.

Please PM me with your portfolio or reply in this thread.

When you find a good one, you might want to share contact details. I'm always on the lookout for a good designer myself.

why not oscommerce? or a Wiki platform?
What kinda skills are you requiring?

Frontpage programmer extream? :D

I dabble in design in my "personal" hours... If there ever is such a thing. Would've loved to help out, but I'm already swamped with work.

In my experience it's often better to go with a bespoke system. You pin point what is needed and build your website exactly to your specs. Using CMS systems often leaves you with functionality that isn't needed which I find annoying.

so you looking for someone one does **** analysis ? :D

+1 - and in PHP, that means CodeIgniter.

Normally I'm the first person who would say this and most definitely mean it. But with recent months and clients being ****ing douche-bags I'm more inclined to just give them something like Wordpress and slap on the designed template than have to struggle or fight with them why their cousin's sisters daughter's niece had her own website and how "cute it looked" and how well it ranked because she just had to download the plugin and they can't understand why it's going to cost them as much as I'm charging them....

So I'm giving up... taking their money and giving them a CMS...

Can't argue with that logic... :erm:

...unless you tell them if they want a cheap website they can get their neice to do it. That's what I've done in the past. You win some clients, you lose others - but you walk away with your dignity, and ultimately their respect. I'd rather not do a *** job than tarnish my reputation.

I'm a lil' bit uncertain of your exact needs. Do you need a graphics designer, developer or both?

Venom, just a question on this: presuming you code your client's websites from scratch, where does it leave them in terms of cost of ownership? i.e. if you get gatvol of the job tomorrow and go work on a cruise liner as an entertainer for the next 3 years, what does the client do if they want /need changes done?

Using a CMS like Wordpress or even Joomla gives the client the assurance that even if you (plural to all PHP coders) are not around anymore someone else can take over the job, without having to redo 90% of the code cause it's not standards complaint or very buggy. .... just my 2c ;)

I can't argue with that. :D

Look, I have the relative luxury of a full time job - I can pick and choose. If the client wants a Wordpress CMS, and you need the cash, I'm with you. What design do you need done, btw? Something complex, or a simple Photoshop mockup? Where you wanting to go with this?

hmm... you want a designer huh... i'm always looking for developers.
i am getting tired of pi55y jobs with "my first website" clients which require no thought, have ridiculous turnaround times and strap you for cash.
i have always coded my own stuff in the past (lamp) but the problem is i just don't have the time to learn a cms / framework.
i've developed my own cms, but it's not as quick to add functionality to. so i'd rather farm the cms part out for now.
i've got some developers i work with, but they either know joomla and nothing about php or php and know nothing about frameworks.
and i get edgy when i've sold the client on some cool functionality and then they tell me there isn't a plugin for it.
i can build it myself, which is why i proposed it to the client and charged enough for it - i just need somebody who knows what they are going from a coding perspective.

i don't dabble in graphics, i'm trained in it. and have been doing it for ten years.
so if anyone's interested in working together, i'm looking for a good phpmysql developer.
i'm busy with three projects at the moment, so i can't help anyone right now unfortunately.
if you want to see some of my work, pm me and i can send you some links.
i do flash too and can work on flex ria stuff if need be.

Righto...

Designer <> Developer

If you can't understand that, then don't pm me.
If you can't read, don't pm me.
If you can't do graphic design and HTML cut-ups, don't pm me.
If you CAN do & have the experience but don't have the time, don't pm me.

I figured I'd source someone off these forums by now seeing as though *i thought* we had some bright individuals right here. But I guess "words" put together into "sentences" confused a lot people when explained what I'm attempting.

To the rest of you who don't know me. I'm a Developer with over a decade of experience. And I take the time to read over people's requests before responding to them and sending them my CV. If I feel I can't do what is required, I don't do anything, or if the person is desperate in finding someone, I'll suggest someone else who might be perfect for the job.

Again (to the developers):

Code:
Dim designer As String = "graphics guy"
Dim developer As String = "dude who implements graphics guy design into CMS"
Dim time As Boolean

If designer <> developer And time = true Then
   PM AcidRaZor
Else
  **** OFF
End If

ps. To the idiot who reported my post as "inappropriate" GO TO HELL. Seriously, the mod could have at least just taken the first sentence out if they wanted to. I'm getting sick and tired of your "P.C"ness on these forums. If you don't like to read (like some of you do) or don't like to read WHAT I TYPE. There is a ****ing ignore button. CLICK THE ****ING IGNORE BUTTON YOU *****! And grow the **** up please. As many of you know I'm immature as it comes, but this ****... please... I'm more grown up than you because I don't go about reporting little bits of text "that might offend". ITS THE INTERNET. IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE OFFENDED THEN TURN YOUR ****ING PC OFF YOU DUMBASS.

Dude, I like your style. Straight and to the point. Sorry I'm not able to help (and I'm glad I didn't PM you :p). Have you considered going to one of those freelance job sites and posting there? Just a thought.
