The K3765 is a 7.2mbps model that has an undercover external antenna connection, so I am keen to get one.

Apparently some Internet Starter Packs contain this modem.

However, with the way that the starter packs are packaged, you cannot see the model without breaking the plastic wrapping.

If anyone knows how to get one of these, please let me know.

I need this to tide me over until some better modems with external connections come out.

Note : The K3770 is not suitable, this is the most common entry level modem at the moment.

Edit : Am looking for the Huawei version of the K3765 !

Bought my starter pack at Clicks and was surprised that it was a K3765

close to end April if IIRC.

AFAIK there were a bunch of modems that were faulty (like a whole bunch).
I think they (Vodacom) struggled getting more stock of the K3570 modems and put in K3765's because demand for the starter packs were quite high

The problem is that you cannot see from the box what is inside and I really don't want a K3770 !

you gonna take a gold scale with you to the shop?

I'de rather go with batch number or something similar on the packaging?
I'll check mine when I get home and post.
Think others should do the same to benefit myBBers

I got a SIM/Modem pack in stock with a K3765 in it and the IMEI starts 35564504 and that is the TAC code for a K3765.

The ICASA approval code is TA-2009/291 which should also be unique to the K3765...

Well how much does an external antenna connector weigh?

touche

ditto except you only see that once you open the package

Ok the back of the box has N01NOV09 or something similar on it.
Lost the piece of paper where I wrote it down

Possibly V01.... On my pack is written V01NOV10, but it comes with K3570-Z, purchased in January.

OK, thanks, this info was correct, managed to find one in Clicks in Grahamstown. You could see the IMEI from the outside of the packaging, and it was indeed the K3765.

They only had one package with a K3765, the others contained lesser modems !

Yes, now let's hope that the external antenna connection works properly !!!

Been following this thread like a soap opera, so I'll be keeping an eye on the outcome.
