Looking for an old motherboard

I am looking for an old motherboard to replace a broken one.

I do not want to get an entire MB/CPU/RAM combo, just the motherboard.

Currently I have:
Intel Socket LGA 775 Motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 D CPU
4x 512MB DDR2 533MHz RAM
PCI Express graphics card

All the new motherboards only support Core2 CPUs, and the DDR2 motherboards only support 667/800MHz RAM.

Now the question is, do you know anyone in Cape Town that I can contact to get a motherboard like that?

read up on a few mainboards.

some that on the cover of the box state 667/800 RAM can support 533. obviously note that it will be limited in this case to the speed of your RAM though the board can accept higher RAM.
 
I have read up on the matter a bit, mostly the motherboards that support 667/800 is one generation later than the 533 ones, and don't support the Pentium D cpu any more :(

Hence my question here, I need someone that sells old motherboards.

The Boards that take the DDR 533 RAM ( can find one) is a bit faaaaar on the eina side of things.

It would be cheaper for you to buy a G31 mainboard (yes you can still get them new) & then to buy 2 x 1GB or 1 x 2GB DDRII 800 RAM. & would still be cheaper than getting a board that supports DDRII 533 - unless you buy a used board.

I can sell a new G31 board for R400.00
 
New board, plus new cpu, plus new ram is around R1k to R1.5k (no, i don't want a celeron :D)

If I can find a compatible mb for R200 - R500 I would rather go for that.

As for the g31, it does not support 533MHz ram, I checked :)

I agree, only 667/800 MHz

no it does not support DDRII 533- i stated that.


BUT

it does support your CPU - the model I can get hold of easily.

& i said you would need new ram

& i said that board + RAM would be cheaper than the board I can trace that can use you current RAM.

So depending on how much/type of RAM you want you could look at R 550- R750

Edit - note there are various models of the G31 mainboards...

the alternative is a board that takes DDRII 533 & my cost would be well over R1k - hench I said that option(MB+RAM) is cheaper.

I bought a G31T-M7 couple of weeks ago, nice mobo but the downside is these G31 boards do not provide a parallel port. I won't say all of them, but i have'nt seen one.

The Gigabyte ones come with a LPT port. What do you need a LPT port for though as I have not connected anything to a LPT port in probably 10yrs?

For the old scanner i use for the past 8 years. But no problem, cos i found a LPT cable among my old stuff and connected it to the LPT pins on the mobo.

Stay away from Biostar.

You won't find a budget 775 motherboard using the G31 chipset with more than 2 DDR slots. The chipset restricts maximum ram to 4GB, you can't go higher and thus there is no need for more than two slots and additional slots if possible would also push up the manufacturing price.
