LOL! My memory is so bad that if i start the series from scratch its new stuff!! :D I just wish there was a follow up story, and a amplification of the beginning. Where the Gecko state is formed.

I'm in the process of obtaining Minami-ke. It's a lot like Azumanga (which I really enjoyed ^_^). It's a new series, only finished airing in march this year, if I'm not mistaken.

Is that near the part where they kill four little girls in an experiment,
not long after they show another child get ripped apart by tentacles?

Eureka 7 seems to be built on cheap dorama sentimentalism, it should either
be a gang of rejects story flying their own airfortress or something else,
they just put too much into it, IMHO.

They build up this dystopia where science is advanced, yet society
is so barbaric that the government can pick up little kids from
the street, force plastic surgery on them and then kill them
in an experiement then not even feel sorry about it, oh wait
feel sorry because of the wasted time, but there's plenty more
little girls to kill.... nah - very stupid.
