Help! My Canon Pixma iP1000 is getting to the end of its life.

Where can I find a supplier that will have stock?

All the new printers seem to come with embedded chips, so that you cannot refill them. :(

The Pixma gives a ink resivour full alarm, where is the resivour and how do you reset the alarm.

This is a fantastic little printer with incredibly cheap ink cartages and I would like to keep using it.

<forumite voice> Hi mods - would you mind moving this thread to the correct section . . .
<mod voice> Hardware and Software? Why I'd love to!

Sneeky aren't they. I seem to recall a way to get around that. Mind you, when you replace the ink, you also replace the 'worn' heads.

I bet that "forumite voice" is me right? Sounds a lot like me, except I wasn't online at the time :p

That printer looks a bit old, so I don't know if you're going to find it still. Go laser ;) much better, check out this Samsung CLP-300 here : www.zones.co.za

edit, used to be there, see they've updated.

Hi there

We have one of these little noise makers at work, bought it about 3 odd years ago. As far as I know, it went end of life a long time ago, they replaced it first with the iP1200, the 1500 and now the 1800.

Canon really introduced too many new models, as some of the older models just keep running and running.

I don't think you'll be able to have much luck getting it repaired either.

The ink full part indicates that the storage space is full of old ink. The machine spits a little ink there every time it starts up, as part of its self cleaning process. I don't know if you can empty it out yourself.

Good luck :)
