I'm looking for a good deal on outdoor IP CCTV cameras.
Wifi is not required, POE would be nice. Anybody know of
any good deals?

Maybe you can still order this from Esquire if you send him a PM?

I am testing out two of these cheap 720p WiFi IP cameras that I bought from Aliexpress. I am planning to use my DroidTV MXIII as a recorder.

Will you please update with your experience regarding those cameras.

@broloks: I'll let you know in the next week how my cameras perform.

As far as I can see, Topsky Vision and IPS are selling the same cameras. I think that these YouTube videos are probably a good indication of the kind of performance that you can expect from the TSV-HR03W. I am not sure if I can increase the resolution to 1600X1200 on my model - I'll investigate further.

Here is an advert for the Eye-03W from Shenzhen IPS Technology and you can see what appears to be the TSV-HR03W on the lefthand side. I was told when I ordered my cameras that the HR03W was the latest model which was replacing the Eye-03W.

Thanks. How long did shipping take and how much did it cost you at the end of the day?

Have you tested this at all yet? You normally need quite a fast pc for motion detection and recording from IP Cameras, interested to see if these android devices will work.

One big negative I can already see from that software is the recording. Most software normally have a buffer period you set for recording on motion. Like mine is set to 2 seconds, so when motion is detected, the recording starts 2 seconds before the motion was detected. This software starts recording "within 5 seconds from when motion was detected". That might not sound like a long time, but if someone walks past your camera, the software will only start recording once he's gone past already.

@RVZ: The cameras that I have appear to have an e-mail alert facility and also an internal SD card for taking snapshots on detecting motion. I haven't tested out these features yet.

I was planning to use a low frame rate (several FPS) to record continuously onto a 64GB flash drive when I leave my home unoccupied. The DroidTV MXIII seems to be able to capture 1080p video at up to 30fps so I don't think this will be a problem.

Here is a link to the user manual for my IP camera if that's of any interest. If you are interested I can send you some of the android software that I have been trying which you could test out on your cameras using a cell phone.

You can now buy a 720p IP camera for around $37 from China so I can see them selling very well over here.

These are the ones that I am testing.

Cool, that will sort out the 5 seconds delay issue.

I'm using a quadcore (Q6600) pc for my cameras at the moment. The cpu goes up to 100% when just 1 camera starts recording at that framerate. When multiple cameras are recording the framerate starts dropping a lot.

I also have a MX3, will try out some software over the weekend.

@broloks: When I bought two of the TSV-HR08W they were $85 each less than a year ago. They now cost $55 which is a big drop in price. I was very worried that the workers at the PO would steal the cameras if they came via our local mail service. The company offered me a free courier service so I used that but had them delivered to a friend in Japan who was coming over for a trip a few weeks later. I ended up paying quite a hefty courier clearing fee of ~$70 but they arrived very quickly - 2 or 3 days after being mailed. I spent close on $240 in total for both cameras and clearing fees.

If you want a quote, just sign up on Aliexpress and use the online chat screen to contact Kevin. Keep a copy of your conversation if you are asking for a quotation. He is very helpful and will probably offer you a good deal if you buy several and ask him for a good price including delivery. If you are near a China Mall you could also take a look at some of the CCTV places to see what they can offer you.

:) I'm actually very impressed with these cameras, and they work well il with our Nuuo IP dvr

I use the DLINK IP cams. They are a bit pricey but they use Apps that work really nicely so I can watch the vids from Iphone or Android. No IP our funny routing to do. Just plug in and run.
