Looking for Dust/Fan Filters

Yep, that goes for an air compressor as well.
Do not make the fan spin faster than it was designed to do.
 
This is what I've done..

1. Long screws with nuts, to secure the fan filter to the fan it's self.
2. Standard fan screws, to secure the fan filter to the case side panel.
3. The fan filter.

Unfortunately I'm missing one of the long screws so I can't mount my other fan at the moment :(
 
I tend to disagree with gnome on this issue. I always use filters and it collects so much dust its not even funny. And my temps don't even change when using without the filter so lack of airflow due to the filter is minimal.

Seriously, you should see the inside of my case, it looks really clean. My sister has a fairly good hair dryer, I just use that every 2 weeks or so and there is nothing more than surface dust. Less than I had when I had a filter on the fan.

It does collect dust, the problem is, it doesn't block any dust from entering the case. The filter and the case is full of dust, so I don't understand the point.
 
Is the fan in question an exhaust or intake? Several cases won't put filters on exhaust fans.
 
At nomnom, I'm on my phone so I can't see the pics all that well. Put it on, and after a month take it off and see if it has collected any dust. Here is a tip, put ur hand over the filter when its on the fan for the first time, after a few weeks do it again. If there is a lot of dust in the filter the air tends to feel like its kind of blowing out, if it feels like this then it needs cleaning.

I know this sounds strange in writing, but its not as silly as it sounds. U will know what I mean when u feel it.

Well, putting a fan on the exhaust is in 1 word: Idiotic

It is like asking why cars don't have air filters on the exhaust. Simple reason, only air is exhausted from there, how the hell will dust enter from the exhaust? All you do is restrict airflow.
 
It's not very smart, even clean rooms don't have filters on the exhaust fan. Particles won't go against the flow of the working fluid (air in this case).

But it's good if you want to see how much dust actually got into the case and keep it trapped inside the case.
