Looking for gloves in Cape Town.

Howdy,

I am looking for thin, waterproof gloves to go underneath my armoured riding gloves, as they are neither waterproof, nor particularly warm.

I can't seem to find anything suitable, any ideas where I can look?

Can only imagine how sweaty your hands would be on the other side!
I use them to work on my bike drivetrain and those suckers dont breathe at all.

Plus they're also available in extra large if you've got big hands

The Dischem ones are superior to the "stretchy" type you get from supermarkets, I can wear them for hours without discomfort.

Latex sweats and freezes, don't do it.

Don't even look for under gloves, just replace your other gloves with winter ones.

I assume you meant proper bike when you said Riding? Trac-Mac is your best bet.

I tried exactly what you are trying to do when I first started riding. Trust me, just buy the real thing and save yourself the drama.

Bought my RST's for about R1000 and there are noname brands for much less.

Having a thin waterproof glove under a cold and wet outer glove is not going to make your hands warm. You need to stop the water getting into the glove, so if you're going to use latex, put it over your current gloves, not under.

Disclaimer - I use them for keeping my hands clean when doing dirty jobs (gardening, painting, car maintenance etc) not for keeping them dry and warm on a bike

Winter gloves would be my suggestion too. You do get those "inners" that you could wear underneath your gloves but I have found it restricts hand movement too much.

Get real winter gloves, anything else is simply not worth the trade off
Trac-Mac, motorcycle world. And if you are feeling rich I'm sure all the dealerships (BMW, KTM, Honda etc) have proper gloves too

edit: thin inner gloves are fine for added heat if your gloves are properly waterproof, though I've only seen my dad wear them once a year - in Sutherland during winter.

I got myself Harley woolen under-gloves (Willowbridge). Very toasty. Not waterproof, but get waterproof outers as suggested here.
