looking for hard drive wiping utility

I am looking for a program that easily wipe a harddrive. It should be something that I can run from a bootable CD.

Or at the very least something that can run under dos so that I can make a bootable CD or flash drive, stick it in the pc reboot and it loads up and wipes the drive.

It should also be able to perform a secure erase where the data cannot be recovered.

Does such a program exist in commercial or open source form.
