Hi guys, great forum
I'm moving from the UK to Cape Town in January, and I'm going to need broadband. I'm looking for the best ISP (either ADSL or WIFI i guess) that offers uncapped broadband, so if anyone can tell me their experiences with ISPs that'd be great, and links to ISP websites would be good also
Thanks guys, keep up the good work
Mike

First off, welcome. :)

I've had no problems with OpenWeb (www.openweb.co.za)

Only thing is, that most ISP's are just resellers of internet services, so it's much of a muchness from one ISP to the next.

ahhh thanks! just took a look at their site, how does their threshold system work if it claims to be uncapped?
thanks
mike

Hi guys, great forum

move back ! - take me with you ;)

uncapped RSA - 3 options:
business
http://www.webafrica.co.za/adsl/is_uncapped/
expressed
http://www.webafrica.co.za/adsl/is_express/
fiber (FROM IS DIRECT skip others)
http://www.is.co.za/broadband/IS+ADSL/IS+Business+ADSL+Fibre+Continued.htm

explained here enough
uncapped options... the list ;)
best uncapped options....(512K compare)
...

we don't have a true broadband and true uncapped solutions here yet - its all "uncapped" with some hidden drawback somewhere....
currently IS has issues on their backbones its not as fast as it should be rather slow !

Welcome to the MyADSL forums! :D

Then:

What do we have here? Dear oh dear. You see it too?! Cool! :D
How can you call Anything uncapped, but then put a threshold (read:cap) on it? This is SA, people can get away with murder here (no pun intended). I call these "threshold" (Express) Uncapped accounts, FakeUncapped accounts.

And Necuno here has put out the 3 options available to you. If I was you (and $$$ is not bought into the equation) I would recommend you scrap the FakeUncapped from your Want list.

How much are you prepared to pay per month for a broadband connection by the way?

cheers for all the replies and links guys! not really looking to spend too much to be honest... starting to realise internet in sa is a much different beast to back home! i spend roughly £30 a month here (about R420?) so something similar would be great, i could probably stretch a little more.
and the comment on taking you back with me... if you'd been to the UK, you'd realise why i'm moving!
thanks again guys

Ahh, at last someone with I concur with, UK is not heaven. Only now you moved from Earth to Hell! Pity, you could have rather gone to paradise like Iraq as in comparison with SA.

1) You need a normal phone line. R112pm Rental
2) You need an ADSL line (Rental pm):
R152 384K
R326 512K
R413 4mbps

3) If you are willing to spend about R420 above and beyond 1 + 2 on your ISP, then I can recommend a 10GB SAIX International account from sainet or openweb.
