Looking for PC with ISA slots

Hey guys,

I need some urgent help please. I have an inkjet machine that is controlled by an old PC with ISA slots. It needs the ISA slots because it has a special tach/sensor board to take inputs from my machines sensors. Unfortunately due to the extreme heat, the processor has quite literally melted onto the board. Im not sure how this happened without the machine causing itself to shut down first, but whatever the damage is done now. The supplier of the machinery does not have stock of these boards any more and are recommending i either replace the controller/pc with a much newer version which is probably in the region of $50,000+.

I know exactly how to fix the problem but I just need a PC with ISA slots in it. Does anyone know if its possible to even get a modern day PC with ISA? I also need it relatively urgently if anyone has any leads.

For what its worth, I am based in Durban.

Thanks

You might be in luck, I will check in the morning. I have one which I think has ISA slots (AMD based) and I have a AGP GPU card to go with it. it might however require some RAM but I might even have that. It's in a case with working PSU. I just need to confirm the ISA slots but I'm 99% positive it has them.

PM me if you are interested, I'm 40km up the coast from you.

How much RAM does it need?

So sorry, I just pulled the PC out of the cupboard and it only has PCI slots. I was thinking of the motherboards I binned in December which had ISA slots.

Somebody out there must have one lying around.

Yeah, doubt you gonna find a P4 MB with ISA slots. I trashed about 3x MB's with ISA slots not so long ago, wish I had held onto them a bit longer.

You'd need to try and find a working 286 to early model pentium.

to the OP - you may be in luck.

Got an Intel 2 mobo with ISA slots, still working. And with RAM too (think 64Mb).

PM me if you still have need for outdated tech :p

What do you need exactly. I have some old stuff, maybe you are in luck!

Post required specs to get you going!

Try looking for DFI mobos, AFAIK they still have new boards with ISA slots, COM ports etc.

Basically my machine has a rackmount housing with several pc's within the housing that control the ripping of data, receiving of encoder signals to control the timing of inkets and the speed of the web, valves, pumps etc.

One of the boards in my pc that died receives the signals from the cue sensors and is an ISA type board. It seems to be custom made for this purpose and so i cannot find any new versions of this board such as PCI or anything. This means i need to locate a motherboard with these ISA slots with everything preferabbly with all the components- PSU, CPU, RAM etc. I dont necessarily need a rackmount pc, but it would be preferable.

I have found a turnkey provider in the USA which can provide relatively modern PC's with ISA slots but I would like to make sure I can get this to work before spending that much money on importing something. So if I can find someone who has something locally it would be much easier. I have contacted all the people that the guys here have recommended so will wait for them to respond and see.

Its quite frustrating - i actually had a spare controller which i swapped over and during setup that one got fried too. unfortunately the extreme heat in durban has created temperatures around 45 degrees + in my factory which is frying the components. Seems like i am going to need to make an aircondiotioned box to house all the controllers to keep them from frying. On the first PC the processor actually melted onto the socket.

Or use decent liquid cooling. Koolance also make nice kits, but I stopped importing them 6 years ago.
