Looking for second hand DSLR camera

Actually saw that already ... but its an auction and only ends 25th.
At the moment I can get a local 350D with 18-55 Lens for R3500, or CT based Sony Alpha 100 with 18-70 for 4k ... I'm leaning towards the Sony though.

For that sort of money I'd save up a little more and buy new. You can get pretty good deals on recently obsolete models like Canon's 400D or Nikon's D40 (amongst others) and you'll get a warranty.

Yeah ... but it'll take me half a year to save up can't find a decent camera below 6k, and don't want Nikon D40 ... Not all lenses are compatible with autofocus.

Its a worthwhile expense. I'm not too concerned about my gear being pinched but I have two kids who love to grab and dash.

I had full All-Risk insurance for years but let it slip only weeks beforehand. Having never made a claim and thinking my upcoming trip to Kruger was low risk... doh!

I have been planning to do it for a while. Driving around with my camera gear where the gear is probably much more worth than my car. (i drive a pretty inexpensive one ok - would rather spend on lenses than mags)

My patience was rewarded with a brand new boxed Nikon D40 for R3500.

What lens did u get with it ?
Bought a D40 with 18-135mm from Amazon Warehousedeals.com for R4300 excl shipping(R600), they said the box was damaged , had to patiently wait for one , then B&HPhoto has some great deals too.

Yeah etai the D40 does not include a focussing motor so you have the buy AF lenses as oppose to non AF lenses
