i currently have a Nvidia GT430 1GB DD3, and its not a good GPU at all i cant play the witcher 2, or crysis 2.. usualy play games on medium - high with the gfxs lagging when i set the shadow quality up.. so i was wondering what GPU i should get?

budget 1000R-1500R

i was thinking to get Axle 3D ATI Radeon 5770 1GB DDR5
http://www.vtechnologies.co.za/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=392&category_id=30&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=92

but i done some looking around for this card on the web and when i search this GPU i get XFX ATI Radeon 5770... and not this card... nor can u find it google imaging it so im having doubts getting this card even since i cant even find it on the web only on vtechnologies.

also would like to go purchase the product at a store... not shipping it online, i live in pretoria in highvelt... wouldnt mind going to a store in joburg or anywere not to far.

This is just an example, but see if you can save up for a little longer. The 5770 isn't "bad", but it's already competing with your grandmother.
The ATI 6850 is a decent buy for the price.

I realise you like "stores", but you pay a lot more at stores than at online stores- their costs are a lot higher.
You should be able to get this cheaper if you look a little harder.

You won't find anything better for your budget than what cerebus mentioned.

If you can increase your budget a bit, then the next in line graphics card would be something like the MSI HD6870 Hawk for R1899: http://www.take2.co.za/electronics-...6870-hawk-1gb-256bit-gddr5-pci-e-9724203.html
Wootware also have a MSI HD5770 for R999: http://www.wootware.co.za/msi-r5770-pmd1g-1gb-ddr5-128bit-pci-e-desktop-graphics-card.html

Given your current budget, the HD6850 would be your best choice.

ok then gfx card looks great nd all, though ive never had a msi GPU before, is it good quality will it perform as good as a ATI or Nvidia? cause that looks awful cheap for a 256 bit Card

All 3 of those MSI graphics cards would perform just fine. They all come with 3 year warranties.

Currently I'm rating MSI products (motherboards & GPU's) better than Asus products, so you shouldn't worry at all.

It's not an MSI GPU, its still ATI but its resold by MSI...I can't think of a good example right now so i'll get back to you on that :)

Hehe, you always have to be technically correct :p

The manufacturers (eg. Gigabyte/Asus/MSI/Sapphire/Club 3D/Innovision) usually just take the reference design PCB (printed circuit board) & GPU, designed/created by AMD, and then they just bundle different warranties, coolers and software with it.
Some models feature the reference design PCB, but with slightly better components, which range from better capacitors, memory modules or even a better batch of GPU's in terms of overclockability.

Then you also get custom (non reference design) PCB's by certain manufacturers, which are usually aimed at the hardcore overclockers who wants to push the card further than what the reference design may allow for.

Just saw PC International are running a special - ASUS 6870's for R1399 excl VAT.

Well his previous post looked like he was a little confused with MSI vs. ATI/NVIDIA and what's that saying "Rather look a fool for 10 seconds than be a fool for the rest of your life"...something like that? :p

ok so, where could i possibly get this gfx card without purchasing online... not that i dont like purchasing online its just i dont have a visa or mastercard to purchase online... i have to ask someone else to do it for me. so would pref going to a store and getting it.

Wootware doesn't take credit cards, so you'll have to make an EFT - as with many smaller online PC shops.

www.zones.co.za have epic pricing.

www.rebeltech.co.za - They have a cash on delivery option.

Just pay by EFT if you don't mind purchasing online. I do it frequently because I don't have a CC either.
